{"id":57,"date":"2020-10-27T14:11:16","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T14:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peerland.fi\/2020-10-27-pre-set-salary\/"},"modified":"2021-09-22T09:35:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-22T06:35:59","slug":"2020-10-27-pre-set-salary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peerland.fi\/blog\/2020-10-27-pre-set-salary\/","title":{"rendered":"They experience benefits with pre-set salary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">In their <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-rebels.com\/why-we-should-not-punish-intrinsic-motivation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a>, Corporate Rebels write about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viisi.nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Viisi<\/a>, a Dutch financial services company where \u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong>\u2026 every employee knows what he or she will earn in the future.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">This means \u2026 during the job interviews I will know:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">1) what I will earn if I join, and how much I will earn during all the years I work there<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">2) what everybody else in the company earn <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">What? <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cThe candidates have responded very positively to the fact that they no longer have to negotiate.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">What\u2019s the logic behind all this?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cThe starting point was the question <strong>how we could least disturb the intrinsic motivation of the employees<\/strong> and how we could take out demotivating or counterproductive forms of extrinsic incentive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">What if I get attracted to a competitor who woos me with bigger pay?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cBecause we are at the top quarter of the benchmark and salaries are rising automatically [\u2026]  this creates psychological safety and you don&#8217;t have to worry about it all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">With no reflection in pay \u2026 how will I stay motivated to do my best?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201c\u2026 insufficient performance is solved by the group. If the framework conditions are right, people have an intrinsic need to become better [\u2026] and in a team, people help each other. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Only if someone is a real &#8220;asshole&#8221; or does not do his or her part, will the team colleagues not accept it. In the long run, the person then leaves on his or her own, because you can&#8217;t stand the pressure of the group for long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cBut what we do have is a participation in shares. Ten percent of the shares are reserved for employees. Everyone gets one point every year, regardless of job function and working hours. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">In the event of a sale or IPO, all points are added together and the value of the employee shareholding is divided by the number of points.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Exciting! I love it when people try things out and find new ways to choose from.
